So I need a new ignition switch, key and gas tank key. Because I am using a different gas tank I would like to get both in one shot. How about this one? The key looks to open the same style gas tank as I am using. My bike is a 82 cb750 nighthawk SC. Would this ignition switch work? Ultimately I must ask the seller if it opened the latch that protects the gas tank, but it appears the closest I could find for what I am trying to accomplish.

Or would any new Nighthawk ignition open such latches? I think my tank is 80-82cb750K. It has the cross latch that appears to go over the cap in the above link

This one seems like it would work for my bike and also open my original tank...That's a plus if I ever want to sell my original tank...but would it open my tank also?

This one seems reasonable, but again, not sure if it will open my latch

Even at best offer, I feel I shouldn't have to spend this much.

Here you can see my make shift ignition switch and gas tank latch style.

any advice guys? Im leaning towards the $58 switch and gas cap combo. Expensive, but looks to solve my situation

Any ignition that has a white plastic bottom has the chance of being an Emgo replacement that can have the thin plastic bottom that comes out of place quickly and easily to strand you. I have had to clamp them in place to not do that and right out of the box.

At least some of the cap latches would accept literally any Honda m/c key but thinking some later ones don't. I'd go the cheap option and see if the latch worked, won't be out that much if it doesn't. If you have the key specific latch then the $58 option doesn't open it. The white bottom and generic key without the plastic top say cheap replacement. The $125 option has the correct type black key boss on it.

Thanks for the heads up. I knew it wasn't that straight forward. Glad Honda did a food job making parts universal. I went with a 79 cb750K oem ignition and same black shaped key off eBay
