That looks to be the neutral safety switch wire. Follow the wire to the other end of the protective sheath and see if you can tell what color the wire insulation is inside the sheath. The neutral safety switch wire would be green with a red stripe. This wire is typically routed between the front sprocket and the backside of the transmission cover, across the bottom of the engine to the neutral switch. From the factory there would also be a metal tab on one of the oil pan bolts to hold this wire as well. You'll need to remove the front sprocket cover to route this wire down to the underside of the engine.
