I'm build a small motor maybe 836 at the biggest with a K head cleaned up, small cam. I have round top and 1978 carbs. Just looking at the pros & cons?

round tops are easier to adjust/jet, very simple carb but run well. the 78 up carbs are slightly bigger, they have an accelerator pump, you will have to get the carb boots for the later k motors to use them as the carb is a little bigger. I have used both and honestly there is very little difference in performance. the later carbs should give you better drivabilty all the way around because of the accelerator pump. For a simple small motor I would go with the round tops. Ideally good aftermarket carbs carbs would be on your list. good cr carbs are way easier to adjust and flow and mix better then stock carbs. But I like the round tops for the ease of adjusting and simplicity.
