My chick and I took the big bike out for a couple hours today. 65 and sunny. Not bad. Tomorrow will be garage day. The rain is moving in.

You northerners probably have sleds, huh? I lived in Northern Minnesota for 30 years. February and March were the best months for riding. Had several Polaris's, some Yamahas and a Ski-doo. Fun stuff.

I'm in Wisconsin and it has been a crazy winter. We've hardly had any snow and it has been about 10-15 degrees warmer than usual almost every day. We have no snow right now but there is still salt and sand on the roads from the few snowfalls we've have had, and it's been in the 30's so you don't really see people out riding. A few of my friends bought snowmobiles this year becuase we had a ton of snow last year, and they haven't been able to use them other than out on some of the lakes. Even those don't have nearly as much ice as they normally would for this time of year. I've had a couple of sleds, but unless you want to trailer them up north every weekend, they aren't worth having around here anymore.

I still have family in MN and they tell me no snow there either. The weather certainly has changed in the last 30 years. There used to be deep snow almost every year. It seems to be less and less. Just freakin cold now.

The north will always be my home, and I will return, but the south does have it's advantages. Rode my bike on New Years day this year.

I remember always having a few feet of snow on the ground all winter 10-20 years ago. Last year was like that, but the previous 10 or so have been mostly brown or some snow but not enough for the snowmobile trails to say open. I actually prefer the milder winters though.

im in pa and weve had a very mild winter i rode on news years day too sunny and 65 had lots of other days to ride since bit my bikes in pieces now. oh well thats what winter is for right, making changes and improvements. springs coming and i will be ready!

I'm trying to get my wife's 450 Rebel ready for summer. Got the frame back from the powder coater today. Tore the top end of the motor down yesterday. Needs a hone, valve job and a good cleaning up. Lots of progress, lots left to do. Have a box of new bearings for the steering and swingarm ready to put in. It's starting to go back together. Life is good.

Yeah winters are good for rebuilding, but you'd be surprised how many people wait until February, March, or even April to tear down their bike and don't have it ready until mid summer. I'm guilty of this myself. That's one good reason to own at least 2 motorcycles. One for riding and one (or five) as a project bike.

For me it seems like I'm not able to give the projects much time or money until after Christmas. The holidays are a busy and expensive time. Right after New Years seems to to be a good time to start working on them. I'm shooting for early May on the wife's bike. By that time here it'll be too hot to spend time in the garage during the day. One of the disadvantages of living in the south. I guess I could get AC put in.

POOF!... Motorcycles Don't Exist Here!

This forum clearly states it is only for "Topics that are in "NO WAY RELATED" to motorcycles, tools, or gear"?? But then, why would anyone think that would be possible here on CB750.com?.... Well, after all, everything is in some way related to, or leads to motorcycles, no?... yes!

mrboss8, it sure seems that way. :) The Lounge is intended to be the off-topic section... as in completely off topic and doesn't even belong on a motorcycle site, like a thread about guns. I'll move this thread to The Garage.

The wife and I will be in Vegas next weekend. We are planning to rent a bike if the weather is nice. Can anybody recommend a good ride or bike rental shop?

It's supposed to be 54 here tomorrow. Riding season feels like it's right around the corner although realistically it's probably still several weeks away. I was just snowmobiling a few days ago a couple of hours from here!

It hit 62 here today but being self employed sucks, I had to work, the bills dont pay themselves!

Rented a Gold Wing and rode from Vegas to Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley and back on Saturday. The weather was nice other than a little wind on the way back. A lot of bikes out there. Lots of rugged scenery. All and all a pretty fun time. The wife says a Gold Wing is "kind of like a big scooter". It was a smooth riding bike. I may get out for a ride here yet tonight too.

Yeah this early riding season is going to catch everyone off guard. Record high temperatures in Wisconsin all week! I'm actually in FL right now though... I might rent a bike for day to get some riding in.
