As I'm just finishing up with my 75 cb750K (just need to get it painted, will do over winter), I started looking for my next project. I'm on a couple cb750 groups on Facebook and yesterday a guy posted an ad for 3 CB750 SOHC Basket cases. He's in the the next town over so I stopped by on my way home from work.

I'm getting the whole lot for $700. Not much to see in the pictures, he's got them in a trailer in his yard. I thought I had a picture of the three rolling chassis. One is a sport model with mag wheels, engine in the frame and it's frame hacked/chopped without a title. The other two have titles, one a 79 and the other an 81. One has the the engine apart, the other intact, one has a full vetter touring set. I dug through the parts a little and I see only one carb set, but who knows. The guy also threw in a color Clymer manual too. I'm getting pretty seasoned at building/fixing bikes, so basket cases don't scare me. I'll get a closer look this weekend. Heck, a titled bike is worth at least 2-$300 in these parts, so I think I did well.

So the plan is to build up one bike for touring with the vetter set to be my new commuter bike (I have a 50 mile one way commute for work). Maybe turn the other titled bike into a cafe racer or something, Then use the sport model for parts and sell off the rest on ebay.

Just some more pictures, I found 2 sets of carbs in the lot.
dirtdigger: So way do you say the stock carbs are so bad?
Curious if all these engines are interchangeable? Is there any difference? I'm thinking about playing musical engines with these, I don't trust the one that's apart, but that belongs to the 81, the one I want to build first.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the stock carbs at all other than many do not understand them. The carbs are hard to get clean in the idle system.

The blue framed one is a '82-'83 Nighthawk CB750SC.......................the engines are easily interchangeable other than very slight differences.
