tube to nowhere

I have a 79 750 F on which I found a tube the same size as the drain tubes on the carb bowls; it starts between #2 and #3 carbs in front of the choke cable and behind the throttle cables goes up and back to nowhere. Does anyone know what it's for?

It's a vent tube for the bowls.
