Hey guys,
so one of my coils is good, and the other is bad (cylinders 1&4). First, cylinder 4 wouldn't fire, so I replaced the coil from a local motorcycle parts shop. They gave me another coil to try, now cylinder 4 fires, however cylinder 1 does not. The coils they provide are original and guaranteed (replaced if they don't work) however, I just want to replace both coils instead of having to make another trip to the shop and have another possible mess up. My question is, if I want to order new, aftermarket coils, how do I know which ones will fit/work with my bike? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

1 and 4 fire at the same time. That is, the one coil generates the voltage and it flows out both plugs wires at the same time. Assuming your plugging in a spare spark plug and grounding it on the engine to visually confirming spark across the gap and, assuming the coil you got came with attached plug wires that only leaves the spark plug caps. The caps can go bad.

Myself, being on a budget and only using my bike for recreation, I bought the stock replacement coils from http://www.cb750supply.com/products/5/electrical/36/ignition-systems-coils-plugs-switches. I also got the pamco electronic ignition and that was the best money I've put into the bike.

Note: The coils were not an exact match. Read more here. http://www.cb750.com/threads/1108-M...hard-accelleration?p=7450&viewfull=1#post7450
