How does my gas tank equalize levels?

OK, this may be a stupid question.

On my 76 F1 tank there is no leveling tube which connects
the two sides of the tank under the frame. So essentially,
at least on this model , I have two tanks.
A left side which has the petcock on it,
and the right side without petcock.
So if most of the gas ends up on the right hand side
I seem to run out of gas. How does the gas on the right side
get over to the left without leaning the bike over?

Every time you accelerate the the gas all sloshes to the back of the tank and about half goes back down into each side.

on my clunker if I tried to pop a wheelie my crank would end up on the asphalt behind me.
