My son and I just rebuilt the carbs on his 79 cb750.

We are having a dickens of a time getting the rubber boots from the air box to the carbs back on, especially the two center ones.

is there an easier way to get them on?

He has been thinking of putting pods on the carb intakes but we dont know where to get them (cheaper the better) and if he would have to rejet if he did go that route.

The jets in the carbs now are a 68 and a 103.

any info would e greatly appreciated...

The first thing you need is patience, and lots of it.

One of the best tools I've had success with is an allen wrench... long handle is best and the smaller the better. I use it to help position the air box boots around the carb inlets as the air box is pulled forward to the carbs. Any small and stiff rod will do the trick too... maybe a metal coat hanger cut with a long handle and at 90 degrees like an allen wrench (I wish I'd thought of that when I was doing it).

Spraying with WD40 helps too.

And there's that patience thingy too.

If you have stock carbs I don't think you want to even try pods... use the stock air box and paper air filter.
