Handlebar switches

I have a 76 cb750f. the wiring for the handlebar switches runs inside the bars. A couple of problems. I am changing the bars and both my handlebar switch assemblies are bad. When did Honda start running the wiring through the bars. I need to get switches that the wiring is external. Any help greatly appreciated.

i know on 78 the wiring was external. if you are not a purist,you can always just buy cheap universal switches from china on e bay and use them.
