recently bought a 81 cb750f... fresh gas/oil/battery.... bike started right up... i tried to go for a ride, but the bike into first and stalled.... rinse repeat, stall... every time it went into first or second ... bike stalled... put the bike on the engine stand.... and pulled the clutch in... and it ran fine.. went through all the gears no issues.... back on the ground.... stalll.... why does this happen? how do i fix it? whats the issue?

thanks corey

Clutch is probably slipping pretty bad. My first check would pull the clutch cover and look at the shape the disks are in. If you pull the cover put it in first gear and spin the rear wheel on the stand, look for it slipping, then trying pushing the clutch in and out, make sure it's freeing. My other guess is the clutch slave or master is messed up and not pushing the plate far enough out to expand.
