So, other than brute force, does anyone have a good suggestion for my cylinders that will not go back on the crankcase? I have lubed the cylinders and pistons, damn near cracked a fin with a rubber mallet, but cylinder #1 will not get down. Any help is appreciated. See photo:

They should not require any force to seat, it will slide under its own weight. You need to pull up and see what it is catching on. Will the crank turn fairly easy right now? Make sure you don't have a broken ring caught on bottom of cylinder. Can you send another couple pictures, showing dowl alignment and maybe from front and/or back? It really should go on easy if not something is very wrong.
