    Engine paint

I have a '78 Super Sport. A gas leak took some of the black paint off the left side engine covers. Honda dealer says he has some rattle can satin engine paint. I am OK with that but just thought I would ask the forum for details on the best method for painting or other ideas. Thanks.

I have used rattle can paint before but I have had issues with the gas taking that off too. I think the key would be to get a good clear coat to make the fuel not affect it. Only time I can make paint resist gas spills is with good automotive paint and clear coat.

Thanks dirtdigger. I think I have the gas leak fixed permanently. The clear coat is a good idea. I am also thinking about clear sheet film to keep my boot from rubbing off paint near the shifter.
