CB750 New member
I was recently given this bike by my uncle because it needs some engine work and rather than mess with it he decided to buy a new CB1100. What I know so far: It's a 1980 CB750C (apparently the same as the 900 but chain driven and smaller displacement (obviously)); body, suspension, tires, seat, electronics etc are in near perfect condition considering their age.
That brings us to the engine. It apparently has the following problems according to him:
1. middle two cylinders "run hot" and may have lost some compression.
2. floats and needles in carbs may have issues which he believes to be due to running fuel with ethanol (he bought new carbs but could not "jet them" (his words) for this engine.
3. headers are beginning to rust. no leaks yet but he believes it will need new (4 into 1) header.
That is all I know for now. I am going to his garage to see it tomorrow to gather more information and take pictures.
Keep in mind that neither of us are mechanics so please don't bite my head off if any of this sounds unintelligent.
Any help is appreciated and I will report back tomorrow with more information.

EDIT: So I may have misunderstood my uncle a bit when he was explaining the problem. He seems to think that the carbs are bad but the engine is fine. He thinks that if I can rebuild (or have someone else do it) that the bike should run fine. He did caution that after the carbs are rebuilt and installed we may find some previously undetected engine issues. So, first things first, I am going to attempt to rebuild the carbs. I have a Clymer manual for the bike and found a rebuild pdf detailing the procedure for '79-'83 750 engine. If anyone has suggestions or tricks/tips I would gladly listen.
Also, as promised, I took several more pictures of the bike for your perusal with some bonus pics of my cousin's wrecked ZX9R thrown in.
